Name:
National First Ladies Day
Date:
April 27, 2024
Time:
10:00 AM - 4:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
The Bush Family Home State Historic Site will be commemorating the important role and contributions of First Ladies in U.S. history by celebrating National First Ladies Day on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Bush Family Home, located at 1412 W. Ohio Ave., in Midland, Texas. There have been forty-six First Ladies in the United States and they have had a major impact on American history, society, and culture, including two who called Midland home. The event will include free admission for the public to participate in many different activities, including a self-guided tour of the Bush Family Home, fun games and crafts for kids, an exhibit about some of the First Ladies and the major causes they advocated for, and First Ladies trivia for both adults and kids with prizes. Bush Family Home Educator Don Zavodny said, “Our National First Ladies Day event will be a fun experience for the whole family, and we look forward to shining a light on the importance of First Ladies in our nation’s history, who are often overshadowed by the presidency.” The Bush Family Home joined the Texas Historical Commission in 2023 and is one of 38 sites in the state of Texas. Its normal operating hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; the last tour begins at 4:15 p.m.
