U.S. Chamber Awards Midland Chamber 4-Star Accreditation

Designation ranks Midland Chamber in top 3% of chambers nationwide

MIDLAND, TX – The United States Chamber of Commerce has awarded the Midland Chamber of Commerce with 4-Star Accreditation for its sound policies, effective organizational procedures, and positive impact on the Midland community. This is the second-highest accreditation level that can be achieved by a chamber.

“Our team is thrilled to receive this honor,” said Bobby Burns, IOM, MPA, Midland Chamber President & CEO. “We thank our members and our community for allowing us to serve our city as the leading Voice of Business.”

Only 3% of chambers across the country are accredited. To receive accreditation, a chamber must meet minimum standards in its operations and programs, including areas of governance, government affairs, and technology. This extensive self-review can take six to nine months to complete.

“Each day, chambers of commerce across this nation play a critical role in their communities,” said Raymond P. Towle, IOM, CAE, U.S. Chamber Vice President of Federation Relations and Institute for Organization Management. “From connecting business owners with needed resources to advocating on behalf of their region with lawmakers, these chambers convene thought leaders to strengthen the collective voices of their members.”

Local chambers are rated Accredited, 3-Stars, 4-Stars, or 5-Stars. The Accrediting Board, a committee of the U.S. Chamber Board, makes the final determinations.

“Midland truly is the heart and soul of West Texas, made so by the hard-working and visionary West Texans we are privileged to work with and for every day,” Burns stated. “As we enter 2021, we remain dedicated to our mission to strengthen our local businesses and support our community to reach its brightest and greatest potential.”

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation, representing the interests of more than three million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.

Since 1924, the Midland Chamber of Commerce has strengthened the community and businesses of Midland, Texas. Functioning as a membership-based non-profit, the Midland Chamber serves over 1000 members, largely based in the Permian Basin.
