This session will highlight employee engagement and performance management because the bottom line is hiring the right people, coaching them, and paying them, all to keep them on the staff. 

The following questions will be addressed:

  • How can employers be proactive in preventing hiring the wrong candidate? Turnover costs money.
  • How can being strategic save the day?
  • How do you recruit and retain the best employees?
  • What do employees expect with regards to compensation and benefits?
  • What must be in place for an employer to establish a performance appraisal system that works? 
  • What does At Will really mean? 
  • What should raises be in a year with 7.5% inflation?
  • How to keep the Department of Labor at bay and your Unemployment taxes low?
  • Why do employers need policies, procedures, compensation, and benefits simple so that employees will understand?

Turney Coulter



Dr. Harmon is a Management Lecturer in the College of Business at UTPB and the owner of Michele Harmon LLC dba RRR Academic and Behavior Center. Her team provides management and leadership coaching, conflict resolution, Thomas Killman individual conflict mode assessments, Myers Briggs career assessments, and K-16 assessments designed to increase high school & college students' opportunities for success in college and careers.

They also specialize in providing evaluations for your HR functions to increase adequacy, efficiency, and equity in serving your customers. Her team specializes in modernizing outdated processes while saving money on staffing and capturing additional funding to sustain successful services and programs.

Dr. Harmon has an EdD from the University of Houston in Educational Leadership, an MBA from the University of Texas at the Permian Basin, an MEd from the University of St. Thomas, and a BS degree from the University of Texas Austin.

Turney Coulter is a Senior Human Resource Business Partner with Precision Drilling and has nearly 20 years of experience in Human Resources. He is committed to being an advocate for both Precision Drilling and its employees in order to keep the Its People--Its Personal mentality that allows Precision to be considered as one of the top drilling contractors in the US.
 
Hailing from the small town of Jayton, Texas, Turney is a proud first-generation college student and graduate of Texas Tech University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies while participating in the colleges ROTC program. He also served 16 years in the United States Army in both the infantry and as a Human Resource Officer with tours of duty in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
 
Turney and his wife live in Midland and have two daughters. Currently, much of their time is spent traveling for softball tournaments and cheer competitions. In addition to being with his family, Turney enjoys watching college sports and playing golf in his spare time.
