Midland ISD Celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week
The public can visit any school to pick up thank-you signs for their yard

May 6, 2020 — As part of Teacher Appreciation Week, Midland ISD and the Education Foundation will give away yard signs to members of the public so they can join us in showing support for our teachers.

The signs — which say "We (heart) Our MISD Teachers" — are available for contactless, grab-and-go pickup at each campus. They can be found at any entrance near the campus flagpole. Each campus will have about 45 signs available starting Wednesday, May 6. The district produced 2,000 yard signs in total.

Midland ISD has more than 1,600 teachers across its 40 campuses, and we can't thank them enough for their hard work alongside parents to keep learning happening during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Monday, Midland ISD began its campus Teacher of the Year social media campaign. Each day, two teachers will be recognized on the district's Facebook and Instagram pages.  The Midland County Excellence in Education awards is led by the nonprofit Educate Midland.  This award is supported by contributions from the Henry Foundation, the Scharbauer Foundation, the Abell-Hanger Foundation, H-E-B, and XTO Energy.  Announcements for the district's elementary and secondary Teachers of the Year will be made in the coming weeks.

Since 1984, National PTA has designated one week in May as Teacher Appreciation Week as a special time to honor the men and women who lend their passion and skills to educating our children.
