Name: Midland County Public Libraries to welcome author of Hank the Cowdog series
Date: October 5, 2019
Event Description:
John Erickson, award-winning author of the “Hank the Cowdog” series, will present his “Hank the Cowdog in Concert” program next month at Centennial Library. The free program will begin at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 5, followed by a book signing. Books will be available to purchase on site by Barnes & Noble Booksellers.

Erickson, a 2019 inductee into the Texas Literary Hall of Fame, was born in Midland and lives on his ranch in Perryton. His “Hank the Cowdog” series includes 73 titles published over 37 years, with the 74th Hank adventure, “The Frozen Rodeo,” scheduled to release this fall.

Erickson’s “Hank the Cowdog In Concert” programs include songs and readings from his books that animate characters like Hank, the self-proclaimed four-legged “head of ranch security;” High Loper, the cowboy who owns the ranch; Slim Chance, High Loper’s ranch hand; Drover, Hank’s timid sidekick; and Pete the Barncat, the clever ranch cat whom Hank could live without.

Midland County Public Libraries invites families and children of all ages to come listen to “Hank the Cowdog in Concert” and stay for the book signing. Erickson’s appearance at Centennial Library is made possible through a partnership with Haley Memorial Library and J. Evetts Haley History Center.
