Name: 20th Anniversary
Date: April 11, 2026
Time: 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
The Bush Family Home State Historic Site will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of opening the house to visitors on Saturday, April 11, from 1 pm to 3 pm. In 2006, George H.W. Bush, Barbara Bush and Laura Bush were all present to cut the ribbon so that people can visit one of the homes where the family got their beginnings in West Texas. For the event, a remembrance will be given by Bill Scott, the former president of the committee to restore the house, and by Paul St. Hillaire, director for 10 ½ years when the site was known as the George W. Bush Childhood Home. Garrett Donnelly, Commissioner of the Texas Historical Commission, will speak about the future of the site. Afterwards, there will be free tours of the house and refreshments. “Walk down memory lane with us as we celebrate a humble beginning for an important family in recent American history,” Site Manager Troy Gray said. “This is a great chance to remember and also to hear the great future for the site.” The Bush Family Home State Historic Site is located at 1412 West Ohio St. in Midland. The hours for the home are: Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; the last tour begins at 4:15 p.m. The Bush Family Home joined the Texas Historical Commission in 2023 and is one of 42 sites in the state of Texas.
